Every piece goes through the same four steps, in the same order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-stars\">\n<li><strong>A thumbnail sketch.<\/strong> In pencil and no bigger than a matchbox, so only the shapes that matter fit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Choosing paper by the window.<\/strong> Colors lie under a lamp, so every sheet is picked in daylight, laid out along the sill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cutting the big shapes first.<\/strong> Sky, ground, and the one big thing. Small pieces wait until I know where they have to sit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gluing and scanning.<\/strong> Wheat paste, a night flat under a stack of books, then a scan big enough for an A2 print.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-style-section-paper has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-32e057fc wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained is-style-section-paper--5\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\">\n<p class=\"is-style-sticker wp-block-paragraph\">Night Garden<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The garden after the lights go out<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.4\">Last winter I swapped white board for black, and every color I glued down came up like a lamp being switched on. Night Garden is three pictures of the small yard behind the studio after dark: ferns under a thin moon, moths crowding the one lamp, and a pink flower cut far bigger than it grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-meta is-style-meta--6 wp-block-paragraph\">Three pieces, cut paper on board, 50 x 75 cm, 2026.
